The Road is a 2009 post-apocalyptic drama film directed by John Hillcoat and written by Joe Penhall.
I loved this film for its amazing cinematography. The colours used are bleak yet really help portray this deathlike world. A very interesting film exploring the lengths humans go to for their own survival.

Mumford and Sons
I have a new slight obsession with the band Mumford and Sons,
Mumford and Sons are an English folk rock band who formed in 2007, and have since won multiple awards for their music.

Changeable Walls
A new concept called Change It by Amiko enables panels on a wall to be easily rotated like a giant tetris board.
Think of what a cool party trick this could be, let alone all the fun you would have on it while your'e bored.
This revolutionary wall is I have to admit pretty awesome, check out just some of the things you could do, and just think, no more messy paint!!

My not so guilty indulgence
Chocolate.... think again.
This tasty morsel is actually called carob and is part of the pea family.
It has strong similarities to chocolate yet is much much healthier, as carob is naturally sweeter than cocoa so it doesn't require the added sugar. Carob is also caffeine free, handy for light sleepers like myself.
It has the same melt it your mouth feel, but a distinctly different taste.
Next time you go to reach for chocolate give carob a try or even substitute it for cocoa.

Manya and Roumen
While reading the magazine Sublime in Borders yesterday I discovered Manya and Roumen a jewellery collection created by Manya Tessler and Roumen Vragov.
The collection is focused on animals and nature, with each piece telling a unique story open to the interpretation of its owner.
Check out the collection at http://www.manyaandroumen.com/index.html

Chocolate and Peanut Butter No-bake Cookies
Whilst I was living in America I was amazed by these cookies! A cookie that you don't even have to bake.....revolutionary!
Heres the recipe, they're quick, delicious and you even save electricity!
chocolate + peanut butter oatmeal cookies
2 cups sugar -- I use organic raw cane sugar
2 tablespoons cocoa
1/2 cup skim milk
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup natural peanut butter (creamy)
2 cups unrolled oats
1 teaspoon vanilla
In a boiler, combine sugar, cocoa, milk and butter. Stir. Put boiler over medium-low heat until boiling. Boil for 2 minutes while stirring continuously. Remove from heat. Quickly add peanut butter. Add oats and combine. Add vanilla. Drop by the spoon-full onto parchment or wax paper.
The cookies begin to harden as they cool, so move quickly.

The Boys are Back
I have come to the conclusion that every good film I watch this year (which is bound to be a lot, seen as i'm spending a year at film school) will be posted on my blog.
The first film I am going to review is a little number that I watched last night, The Boys are Back.
Set in Australia, the story follows a recently widowed Englishman through the struggles of looking after his too sons.
I found it to be a deep and (slow) moving film, but yet easily watched. There are moments where I very much wanted to cry and moments in which I couldn't help but laugh.
I thoroughly enjoyed this film, great cinematography and a heartwarming story

Girl Talk
Today I loved the music that was playing at work, so I asked my coworker who it was by and he said Girl Talk.
So naturally I came home and googled it, and have been listening to it since.
I would describe the music as 80s remixed with todays songs.
Have a listen at http://www.myspace.com/girltalk/music/songs/on-and-on-76747689
I like on and on, and Feed the Animals but am yet to find the one I loved today.

Lemon Meringue Pie
Lately I have had quite a fetish for Lemon meringue pie, if you haven't tried one then I suggest you do, or if you're really adventurous then you should have an attempt at making your own. Yum!

My First post
So this is my first post ever, so hang in there with me.
This whole blog idea eventuated due to my sister, while staying with her in melbourne.
After browsing through multiple blogs i figured how hard can it be to make one myself.
So this year 2011, I will try to keep this up and see where it gets me.
